WORLD URBAN PAVILION IN REGENT PARK
This workshop will also leverage the collaborative opportunities of the World Urban Pavilion in Regent Park (Pavilion) - Powered by Daniels to demonstrate how cities and towns can mobilize the Pavilion as a platform for advancing sustainable dialogue on urban challenges. The Pavilion provides both a physical and virtual space for cities and towns to interact with the globe and demonstrates innovative solutions for sustainable urbanization.
The Pavilion is a knowledge exchange hub that brings stakeholders together in one platform to focus on best practices in inclusive urban development. The Pavilion aims to create an open dialogue on all aspects of sustainable development, including housing and affordability. It is a global platform to inspire action and advocate for innovative solutions with stakeholders across all sectors to support evidence-based policy decisions through data and information from city-to-city and town-to-town.
One of the Pavilion’s main programming areas is the Canada: Frontrunner of Urban SDGs program. This programme highlights Canadian innovation and aspires to make Canada a leader in sustainable urban development. It also provides an opportunity for Canada to facilitate and accelerate international cohesion for the SDGs under one platform. An important component of this program is working closely with local communities across Canada, including the Town of Collingwood, to develop pilot projects for realizing the SDGs.
The Town of Collingwood is aspiring to become a Frontrunner Town of Urban SDGs through the Pavilion’s Canada: Frontrunner of Urban SDGs program. This workshop is part of a series of initiatives of Collingwood to move closer to its ambitious goals as a Frontrunner Town. The workshop is also an opportunity to connect with the Pavilion’s collaboration hub to establish an open dialogue among national and global audiences on how municipalities can move forward with housing initiatives that are inclusive, accessible, affordable, and sustainable.
