The opening statements will kick off with a welcome from the Urban Economy Forum (UEF) and the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP) as they invite participants to the joint conference titled "For Climate Action, Urban Finance – Planning for more Resilient & Equitable Places & Communities." Over the course of the three-day conference, the focus will be on the pivotal role of urban finance in advancing sustainable development, especially in the face of complex global challenges, particularly the impact of climate change on cities and city regions. The conference aims to bring together a diverse array of participants, including city leaders, academics, government and non-governmental representatives, parliamentarians, entrepreneurs, civil society members, financiers, and planning professionals. Together, these stakeholders will engage in a global dialogue to explore how to finance collective visions, policies, plans, and designs that foster climate-responsive and equitable places and communities in our rapidly urbanizing world. An overarching goal is to address the imperative of meeting the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the context of a changing and challenging global landscape.
