Topic: Practical & Innovative Models on Urban Food Systems & Urban Green Spaces
Urban food systems have a real and substantial effect on the quality of life in cities.
This special session is organized by members of the Urban Economy Forum 2021 Steering Committee to share practical and innovative models regarding urban food systems and food security. Session participants will discuss how to transfer lessons learned with the ultimate goal of establishing a future pilot project in collaboration with the Urban Economy Forum.

Camilla Ween
Camilla studied architecture at the Architectural Association in London. She works at the intersection of sustainable urban design and transportation, creating urban environments that are socially inclusive and healthy and which address climate change issues. She is UK Design Council Built Environment Expert and a member of several design review panels. She works on urban design and transportation projects, working in Africa, Asia, Central and South America and India. She is a Committee member of the newly formed United Nations Urban Economy Forum, which seeks to promote cities that will deliver the UN Sustainability Development Goals. She is the author of several books and lectures at UK and USA universities and international conferences.
Fazileh Dadvar
Fazileh Dadvar-Khani currently works at the Department of Geography (Geography and rural planning), University of Tehran. Fazileh does research in Gender studies, Women's empowerment, Renewable energy and Tourism planning. Her most recent publication is 'Gender-related analysis in the process of diffusion of entrepreneurship in rural areas Case study: Soolaghan Dehestan'.

Sriram Natrajan
Sriram Natrajan is an independent consultant on economics, development and statistics, with a focus on food and agriculture in Asia. He has consulted on economics and statistics in international organizations such as FAO and ILO and taught economics and development in India and Thailand and lectured in various academic institutions. The development experiences in Asia, in particular China and India, have been the focus of his research over the years. He completed his Doctoral Study on ‘Agrarian Change and Rural Transformation in China: China’s Development Experience Since 1965’ from Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Yunqing Xu
Dr Yunqing Xu joined the Department of Urban Planning and Design since 2013. She is also the Director for University Research Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (UES). https://www.xjtlu.edu.cn/en/research/research-centres/ues/
She got her PhD in real estate management from Oxford Brookes University, UK. Previous work experience include international organisation (UN-HABITAT headquarter in Kenya, Africa), university visiting lecturer (Oxford Brookes and Northumbria), senior research consultant for property companies (Winkworth Franchising, UK and Zerstart, China).
Her expertise lies in planning and property development, investment and management, land and housing policies, China’s property-led urban (re)development, and sustainable and livable cities. Dr Xu also serves as procurement selective review expert for Suzhou government.
She welcomes enquiries for PhD supervision in the below areas of research interests.
Teresa Corção
Designer, Chef, writer, Teacher, Speaker. I started as a designer but always had a passion for cooking. In 1981 made the carreer change becoming Chef Owner of O Navegador Restaurant in downtown Rio. In 2001 joined the Slow Food Movement and in 2007 founded Instituto Maniva and the group of Ecochefs. Ashoka and Synergos Fellow, Basque Culinary Award finnalist, Ted and TedX Speaker.

Shulang Fei
Dr. Shulang Fei is a principal researcher in the Urban Food Policy and Planning Research Team at the Institute of Urban Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). She works on assessment and policy support of urban agriculture and city region food systems. She has been active in advocating urban agriculture’s multifunctionality in urban and rural development and implementing various urban agriculture typologies in the context of Chinese cities. She works closely with both local actors like local NGOs and governments and international partners such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Before joining CAAS, she was an urban agriculture consultant at FAO since she obtained the PhD degree at the University of Queensland.

Nan Wang
Prof. Wang is the chief scientist of the Urban Food Policy and Planning Research Team at the Institute of Urban Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). He mainly works on research and implementation of urban agriculture development strategies, modern agriculture planning and agricultural investment. He has led more than 350 projects of various scales, from international cooperation projects to local planning projects. He has rich experience in agricultural industry analysis and food planning and is dedicated to contribute to rural revitalization and city sustainable development goals.
Bibiana Virguez
Bibiana was born and raised in Colombia where she obtained an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Management. As part of her Thesis, Bibiana supported independent farmers in developing Agricultural Best Management Practices. While growing up, Bibiana was inspired by her dad’s municipal and provincial contribution in the education and social areas. In Colombia, she actively participated in Community Development projects and led the selection of environmental reading material for several high-school libraries.
After moving to Toronto in 2008, Bibiana completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Urban Land Development. Bibiana's experience comprised; over four year promoting healthy and active life styles, developing and implementing sustainable environmental practices, facilitating workshops, community outreach and stakeholder management.
Bibiana happily joined the FoodShare family in 2014 as a part-time Community Food Animator and moved to full-time status as Food Justice Facilitator in 2015 where she advocates for an inclusive, community-led and participatory food system by addressing systemic change and building stronger communities.
