Chair of Urban Economy Forum, Reza Pourvaziry delivers a speech at the SDG Cities Global Conference

UEF was delighted to have its Chair, Reza Pourvaziry speak during UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme)’s SDG Cities Global Conference. UEF is working closely with UN-Habitat to establish the #SDG Cities Global Hub in Canada under the World Urban Pavilion in Regent Park.

UEF Chair highlighted the Pavilion’s role to create a global network for urban SDGs and to establish global pilot projects that focus on the local, national, and global scales. This is a collaborative effort with UN-Habitat and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Reza emphasized that inter-governmental collaboration is necessary for the future of sustainable urbanisation. The Pavilion will support this endeavour through the High-Level International Board (HLIB) that will bring 20 countries to this platform. Quoting Antonio Guteurres Secretary General of UN, Reza reminded participants that “the emissions gap is the result of leadership gap”, further emphasizing how important it is to bring countries together under a shared mandate for the global. The HLIB will work with its global partners to establish itself as the Global Hub for SDG Cities.
