URBANSHIFT - TRANSFORMING CITIES FOR PEOPLE AND PLANET

UrbanShift is Global Environment Facility’s (GEF's) Sustainable Cities Impact Program. It is led by the UN Environment Programme and implemented in partnership with the World Resources Institute, C40 Cities, ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, the UN Development Programme, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. UrbanShift builds on the lessons and experiences of the Sustainable Cities Integrated Approach Pilot, facilitated through the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities.

One of the flagship programs of UrbanShift is the Sustainable Cities Impact Program which advances the integrated approach of urban planning and implementation under its brand name UrbanShift. The program supports more than 23 cities in 9 countries and has a focus on integrated urban planning, low-carbon infrastructure, sustainable waste management and nature-based solutions for urban sustainability. "UrbanShift brings together global, national, and local stakeholders, and engages with city-based organizations and the private sector to work towards common sustainability visions."

We encourage everyone to learn more about UrbanShift and its initiatives that seek to transform cities for people and planet through sustainable, integrated, zero-carbon urban development.
