Analyzing the Impacts of COVID-19 on the Canadian Urban Economy

On June 5th, Urban Economy Forum held a cross sectoral roundtable with The Canadian Federal Government and UN-Habitat on the topic of the Impacts of Covid-19 on Canadian Urban Economy. The meeting was attended by 84 participants with 45 of them as speakers. Representatives were from Canadian Cities, private sector, academia, and non-governmental organizations, including several municipal associations representing Canadian provinces. This was the first multisectoral roundtable that focused specifically on Canadian urban economy from the lens of Sustainable Development Goals. We thank Honourable Bill Morneau, Canadian Federal Finance Minister, for his welcome address to open the roundtable session and Dr. Eduardo Lopez Moreno, Head of Knowledge and Innovation of UN-Habitat.

There were 45 scheduled speakers and in addition to that the roundtable had 39 attendees. The roundtable was also live streamed on YouTube through the Urban Economy Forum and Global News’ YouTube account, which has over 400 and 3500 viewers, respectively, as the time of this report.

The recording of the roundtable was uploaded by Global News on Youtube, June 5th, 2020. The video is available for view below.
